[late posting] my christmas break!

Merry Christmas everyone! Today is the birth of our dear savior Jesus Christ. Today is the time for happiness and enjoyment. It is also the time of giving and forgiving. This is also the time that family gathers together and Christmas vacations are also held. So, how did you spend your Christmas break?

December 24, we prepared everything; the foods, decorations, fireworks… everything! We helped each other out for the most waited (I think) time of the year. We bought gifts for our nieces, nephews, cousins, siblings… everyone in the family. During the night, I really didn’t sleep because I got super excited. Anyway, there I was alone, watching television. Then, when the clock strike twelve, I woke my parents up and prepared the foods and of course, the bible. My father read to us the birth of Christ and prayed then we ate.
December 25, my family went to the church and prayed to God. After that, we went to my grandparents’ house and they had a meeting about family outing. After an hour of discussing, they decided to go to Dapitan City tomorrow, December 26.
December 26, my mother woke us 4 in the morning and got our selves prepared for the long travel. We packed up our things and went to my grandparents’ house, the meeting place. We sat, talked, played for three more hours before we started departing the house. After four hours of circling around the road, we arrived at the place. We rented a pent house and stayed there for the rest of the day. Since it was near the beach, of course, we swam and played. Well, the good thing was that I didn’t get sunburns.
We went to Fantasy Land at seven o’clock. The place was amazing! It looks like Enchanted Kingdom but local… So, we bought tickets and enjoyed the rest of the evening. Two rides that I can’t still get over with are the “galleon ship” and the “giant coaster”. They were the best rides in there.
December 27, time to go home. We started packing up the things and went to the road. But before that, we went to Rizal’s shrine and took some pictures. The place was quiet. There were only few tourists in there but the place is great.

So, it ends here for now so tune in for more.

Buh-Bye 2oo9

Woooot! Thank God that we had no exam in English because I didn’t study! I thought we would have one since today should have been an exam week. Unfortunately, we would be having our exam next year, 2010 which means that we will have a more hectic and busy schedule.

We didn’t really meet in class. We also didn’t do anything in our class. No activities, quizzes, assignments, etc. I thought we would be free in our Christmas break but I was wrong. It was December 18, 2009 when I found out that we would be having a blogging assignment. It will be about our Christmas vacation. The good thing was one of my classmates in Eng2 told me about it or else I would have ZERO score on it. :D

Last meeting, Thursday, we, together with my classmates, went to my Eng class room thinking that we will have a class. So we stood up there for more than thirty minutes. Then, they decided to go to the English faculty room and asked if Ma’am Lynnie is present. They found out that ma’am wasn’t around so we just went home. We really didn’t do much in this week.

Empty xD

Well, I can't really think of any other topics to blog so I think I'll just be blogging what we're going to and about to do in our English class...

This week has been very funny and enjoyable for me. The first meeting we had this week, we had some very good activities. First, we were grouped into four and we had the "connect-the-sentence" activity. I don't really know what the title is so I just made one. Anyway, each of the members will be creating one sentence and it's up to the other member to make and connect their sentences just to make it united. It was pretty fun especially to the group where it involved teddy bear. Second, we had the "think-of-a-word-which-has-the-said-word-in-it" activity. This activity can really stir students' minds. They need to think the words before the allotted time ends. After the checking, I had the largest score which is... 5. Last, the project we had was extended so "HURRAY" for us. :)

O.M.Goodness...

It was a fine morning. No noises and disturbances... except me, running again towards my English classroom. Before that, we were having a quiz in our major subject and just like same old times--- I'm always late to pass. Then, when I took a glance at my watch, I was shocked to see that I'm 9 minutes late to my next class--- English 2. So, I ran. No pit stops, just me running. And so, when I arrived there, the class had already started. Because of my embarrassment, I silently went to my chair at the back.

The class was pretty normal. And just like we always do, Ma'am Lynnie discusses and we listen. Well, the 'terrifying' thing at that time was when she picked our [me and my partner] paper about the outlining as an example to the class. She made a lot of corrections to it and I was really embarrassed. Maybe it wasn't so embarrassing at all if my partner was there she wasn't, she was absent. So it was just me...alone. Well, the good thing was that she explained to the class why she picks papers, not to tell the owners that it's wrong but to correct and let them know where the errors are. But still...

The other meeting, she wasn't around because of the paper thingy so we had a lot of time to have fun, prepare the project she gave to us and of course, study.

FIRST encounter...

After our major class in Accounting, I went directly to room 116 -- my English classroom. Since our teacher was absent during the past two meetings, I thought that she would still be late or absent so I didn't mind if I'll be late or be there on time. Anyway, the class was waiting 'loudly' for the teacher to arrive and few minutes later, a short, "nerdy looking" teacher came in. I wasn't really surprised and all since I already had a clue as to who our teacher is going to be but what I didn't know was that she has a very STRONG and POWERFUL voice.
Anyway, the first meeting with her was alright. I was pretty surprised by her POWERFUL, well MODULATED voice and I must say that it's very good to listen and hear it. At first, she talked about classroom policies, how her grading system works and the things we'll be covering for the whole semester especially our term paper. Then, she also introduced and talked about blog stuffs; how to create blogs, how to blogs, etc. Well, I was really confused why we have to blog (which involves typing) even though the subject clearly tells us to write, write and write things. But the good thing was, she explained to us the reason.
Even before I met our teacher, I already had the feeling that English 2 will be very hectic and tedious especially the part when we have to make, edit and defend our term papers which is already expected. The making part of the paper would be hard for me since I'm a kind of person who can't decide easily and directly on certain things and I'm not really into writing (as what I have blogged before), so it will be hard. And as to the defending part, this will really be a challenge for someone who has mannerisms. Even before in high school, I have a difficulty of managing my actions whenever I speak to someone. I tend to do and show quirky things unexpectedly which is pretty disturbing to look at. Well, I can sort this all out... hopefully. This whole thing would REALLY be a great challenge.
Also, she included the "ENGLISH SPEAKING POLICY" which is pretty bad to my part. Well, I'm already used to it since during my high school years, we used to speak in English but I assure you, I'm NOT good at it. And the punishment is WORSE, we get to entertain the class whenever we speak in other dialects besides English through dancing or singing.
I must say that the first encounter with our teacher was pretty shocking yet satisfying. If the first part of the semester is hard, how much more in the latter part?
I'll just hope for the best of us----- ME!

What I Feel and Think Towards Writing In English

"The difficulty of literature is not to write, but to write what you mean"

-Robert Louis Stevenson

Most of the good men of the past like
Dante Alighieri, Geoffrey Chaucer and William Shakespeare were known NOT because of their courageous and heroic deeds but their ability to TOUCH hearts, TEACH minds and TRANSFORM lives through writing.

I had been writing English ever since I knew how. I've written some poems, essays and even short stories just because I'm told so. I also write to answer essay parts of an examination and quizzes but I'm NEVER fond of it. It doesn't really mean that I 'suck' but it's just that I am trying to avoid negative criticisms. Also, I HATE comments! Well, there was once that we were tasked to write anything about things we like or simply a "Term Paper". Then, there was a schoolmate of mine who suggested wrong things to change some parts of my paper and I felt shocked and partly angry. The point is that due to negative criticisms, I started to hate writing and never wrote again...

Well, writing in English is pretty awkward to my part. I need to observe all things necessary-- the grammar, spelling and even some punctuations and etc. Also, writing English is very tedious especially when you only have limited knowledge and vocabulary with of you. Well, I'm not really a bookworm or a reader that's why I only knew words I normally encounter everyday. Well, we have dictionaries at home but I never have the slightest force to open a thin sheet of paper just to look the meaning of a word whenever I hear one.

Today, it's pretty much a challenge to me writing and composing some stuffs in English. I need to recall all the things to be observed since it has already been a while. But I'm expecting and hoping that I'll finally learn to love writing this semester with the help of my NEW classmates and my NEW teacher...

...Hopefully :)
